Berlin, Germany

Berlin, the German capital and the center of culture and science is a place where East meets West. The city was severely damaged during the last years of World War II and separated  during the Cold War but after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 the city was reunited like the rest of the country. Over the last two decades the city regained its former importance and reemerged as one of the greatest cities in Europe.

Berlin went through major reconstruction after the reunification in 1989 but its buildings from many different historic periods provide great insight into the city’s long history dating back to the 13th century, while ultramodern structures reveal Berlin’s present-day role in both Germany and the European Union.

The German capital is famous for numerous top museums and galleries such as the Museum Island, and landmarks such as Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, remains of the Berlin Wall and the Checkpoint Charlie,  Berlin Cathedral, Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, Victory Column, Fernsehturn Berlin and many other sites of historic interest. Berlin is also renowned for rich street art and premium clubs, bars and cafes which make the city one of the top nightlife destinations in Europe.

Moscow

Trip to the Russian capital and one of the greatest cities in the world is an unforgettable experience. Walking the Red Square passing the famous St. Basil’s Cathedral, Lenin’s Mausoleum and the red-brick towers of Kremlin is a must see at least once in a lifetime.

The city has played an important role in Russian history and was made the capital by Ivan III the Great who finally liberated Russia from the Tatar yoke in 1480. Over the following centuries the city became the capital of one of the world’s largest and most powerful empires until the early 18th century when St Petersburg replaced it as capital city of Russia. The capital was transfered to Moscow again after the Russian Revolution of 1917. Present day Moscow still reveals the mightiness of Russian Tsars although many imperial and religious buildings were destroyed by Joseph Stalin during his efforts to modernize the city. However, Stalin also ordered construction of several Moscow landmarks including The Seven Sisters.

There is a lot to see and experience in Moscow but it may be worth to keep in mind that the Russian capital is a city of superlatives when it comes to prices as well.
